The District Nomination Committee is pleased to announce Assistant Governor Peter Roaf of the Rotary Club of Ladner as District Governor Nominee Designate to serve as District Governor in 2028-2029.
Peter Roaf has been a member of the Rotary Club of Ladner, in Delta, BC, since 2008. He has served the club in various roles including President in 2015-16 and 2020-21, and Public Image chair.
For District 5040, he is serving 2023-2026 as Assistant Governor for seven Rotary clubs and one Rotaract club in the Richmond and Delta area. He is a member Club Leaders' Forum Committee, and since 2023 has served as a self-appointed "member communication officer" publishing monthly bulletins to all members and posting club & District stories.
His previous roles with the District have been District Trainer (now District Learning Facilitator), Chair of the Public Image Committee 2018-21 and 2022-23, Learning and Development Committee member, two District Conference committees and a founding member of the District Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee.Peter received the District 5040 Rotarian of the Year Award in 2022 and the District 5040 Governor`s Exceptional Service Award in 2023. He is a Major Donor Level 1.
During his career He has served as a senior manager and consultant in external and internal corporate communications and public affairs for large and small organizations. He also served over six years as Executive Director of the Delta Chamber of Commerce.
He holds Bachelor of Journalism with Honours and Master of Arts (Leadership) degrees, was an Accredited Business Communicator when active over 40 years with International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), which he served as a member of the international board for four years. IABC Canada recognized him as "Master Communicator" in 1999.
Peter and his wife, Elise, live in Richmond, BC, and between them have one son, three daughters and five grandchildren. Born in Vancouver, he has lived and worked in Ottawa and Edmonton and, since 1986 in Vancouver, mainly in Richmond.
