PERSONAL

John is a native of Vancouver, having been born there in 1912. His schooling was there, finishing with a business admin¬istration diploma from U.B.C. night school. In 1938 he married Ivy Page. They have two daughters and two grandchildren.

Over the years John has been active in, and has enjoyed his associations and services with, the Masonic Lodge. In the Scottish Rite he was coronated 33 degree Honorary Inspector General at Winnipeg in 1980. He is a member of the GIZEH Shrine Temple and of the Westminster Shrine Club. John is a member of the Beach Grove Golf Club. Besides golf, he enjoys reading and gardening.

HIS CAREER

In 1936, after eight years as bookkeeper for the Terminal City Club, he went to work for MacMillan Bloedel, Ltd., working his way up from millworker, through timekeeper, sales and sales manager, to division and product manager, retiring in 1970. Since then he has kept busy in various phases of the real estate business, now with the Canada Per¬manent Trust.

LIFE WITH ROTARY

John joined the Burnaby-Kingsway Rotary Club in 1959 and has a perfect attendance record. He was President of that Club in 1966-67, and his record of service to the club and the district was recognized by his club making him a Paul Harris Fellow in 1977.
