Rotary partners with Toastmasters
Toastmasters and Rotary International have created a unique collaboration to help members with personal development and make a difference in their communities.

Rotary International and Toastmasters International have formed an alliance and are working together to provide members of both organisations with more opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Members of both Toastmasters and Rotary will enhance their skills, broaden their networks and increase their positive impact in communities through the new collaboration.

2020-21 Presidential Theme
Rotary International President-elect Holger Knaack is encouraging Rotarians to seize the many opportunities Rotary offers to enrich their lives and the communities they serve.

Knaack, a member of the Rotary Club of Herzogtum Lauenburg-Mölln, Germany, revealed the 2020-21 presidential theme, Rotary Opens Opportunities, to incoming district governors at the Rotary International Assembly in San Diego on Jan. 20.

Rotary isn’t just a club for people to join, but rather “an invitation to endless opportunities,” said Knaack, who becomes president on July 1. He emphasized that Rotary creates pathways for members to improve their lives and the lives of those they help through service projects.

District Governor Greetings
District 5040 Governor Bala Naidoo and Vasi

As we are all settling into the new decade, I would like to reflect on our last six months of our Rotary year.

You have achieved a really important milestone with having every club in our District fully complete your goals on Rotary Club Central and added Key Performance Indicators that we introduced to each of your Leadership Teams over the last six months.
Congratulations and thanks you to our District Leadership Team; and our club Presidents – an integrated approach that will serve as a foundation for growing each of our nine Assistant Governor Areas with our District Committee Chair.
This bottom up approach to you determining the District Strategic goals will come to fruition in February as our DGE Dave Hamilton plans his Year Ahead with our District Leadership Team.

Vasi and I loved our visit to each of your clubs and learned about the amazing local and international impact that each of you contribute in making our world a better place. Thank you for this once in a lifetime privilege and for your warm and gracious hospitality, something that we will cherish forever!

We talked a lot about the pace of change and our need to innovate; adopt and adapt to best practices and you will see many initiatives coming to your clubs as we continue to focus on the needs within each of our communities. We are seeing a lot of collaboration with clubs working together to achieve more and becoming area focused versus remaining club centric. This allows each club to retain their own unique culture while serving our broader community. We are also seeing stronger clubs reaching out to smaller clubs that may need resources and help for the greater good of growing Rotary to serve different segments of each unique geography.

We have a record 260  District Conference registrants to date and our Conference Committee is hard at work, finalizing an exciting  2020 Vision program for you. Please consider taking advantage of our Friday or Saturday rate of $90 for non Rotarians; family; and prospective members – a great opportunity to attract a different demographic!

This is also an exciting time as our incoming Presidents prepare to attend our President Elect Training Seminar in February and Dave attended the International Assembly  last week to bring Rotary’s theme and Strategic Priorities to us as we all prepare for the Year Ahead.

Wishing you an awesome 2020 as we continue to Connect the World 🌍!

Yours in Rotary service,

Bala
