The Rotary Friendship Exchange to Russia has been postponed to June 14 to 28, 2020 to accommodate more members who could not make arrangements in time for this summer. A group of 10 to 12 people from our Rotary District 5040 will visit fellow members in Rotary District 2223. Partners, family friends welcome. Visas are required.
Moscow
The RFE trip will start with 3 days in Moscow where the RFE team will have the opportunity
to tour, go to the theatre and see wonderful museums.
Tolyatti
The city is best known for Russia’s largest car manufacturer AvtoVAZ (Lada).
The city has 2 very active Rotary Clubs.
Ulyanovsk
Birthplace of Vladimir Lenin
Also famous for its writers, Ivan Goncharov, Nikolay Yazykov and Nikolay Karamzin
and painters, Arkady Plastov and Nikas Safronov.
Ekaterinburg
Fourth largest city in Russia and administrative center of Sverdlovsk Oblast,
located on thr Iset River, east of the Ural Mountains, in the middle of the Eurasian continent,
on the Asian side of the boundary between Asia and Europe.
Kazan
The Capitol and largest city in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia.
Kazan lies at the confluence of the Volga and Kazanka Rivers, in European Russia.
The Kazan Kremlin is a World Heritage Site and in 2009 was selected as the Sports Capitol of Russia.
It has 3 Rotary Clubs.
NOTE: Travel visas will be required
One cost to anticipate is a Visa at CDN$200.
For the initial part of the exchange visit, in Moscow, team members will be responsible for their own expenses.
After that, local Rotarians in clubs of Rotary District 2223 will be hosting them.

- hotels in the 4.5 stars range from CDN$61.00 to $234.00 per night, even as low as $50;
- Hop-on-Hop-off bus touring $24.00;
- Kremlin visit $24.00;
- cruise on Moskva River $37;

- St Basil Cathedral free.
With air fare one might expect to pay on this Rotary Friendship Exchange $2500.
Local Rotary clubs are keen to host RFE visitors
Members from Rotary District 2223 in Russia will exchange to Canada hosted by Rotary District 5040 June 13-28, 2020,
some planning to attend the Rotary international conference in Hawaii en route.
