As we near the end of another Rotary year it's a time to reflect on our achievements throughout District 5040 and the groundwork we have prepared for what comes next. Rotary builds on the efforts of those who came before us. We strive to create opportunities for those who will follow.
Our Rotary theme “Unite for Good” is reflected in every act of service done by like minded people to create something larger than ourselves. During this past year our District adapted to our changing world to better strengthen and support our clubs.
The biggest change was holding our first District 5040 Club Leaders Forum (CLF) in March: our version of the Presidents Elect Learning Seminar in Seattle which we attended for decades. It saw Rotarians from not only our District, but surrounding Districts attend our new CLF.
We brought together Presidents Elect, Secretaries and Treasurers as it takes a team to run a Club. District Governor Nominee Ron Shaw is already planning the CLF for 2027.
We didn’t hold a traditional District Conference because of the resources and effort required for the CLF, but some Areas held events that focused on building better relationships among clubs and others in their communities.
We moved the deadline for our District Awards to May 15th and received a record number of nominations. The Awards Committee was impressed by the number and the quality of these nominations. The award recipients will be announced at District Governor Elect Dean Hsieh’s Installation in Richmond on June 27, 2026 and will be published on the District website.
Ross Cooper and his Membership Team are busy working on our ‘main focus’ of Membership. They continue to look for ways to create clubs that are inclusive and welcoming to all people who want to help us “Create Lasting Impact” during this next Rotary year.
The true measure of our work isn’t what we accomplish today, but what continues because we were willing to begin.
May we continue to Unite for Good and in doing so, Create Lasting Impact during Dean's year.
It has been a pleasure to be your District Governor and I want to thank you for your support.
