Friday, June 22 - Rotary International Convention in Toronto  -  Rotary meets in Toronto - and many are on our flight from Vancouver this morning to attend the International Convention June 24 - 27 in that city.   An International Conference is always a special time to connect with many other Rotarians and to experience the true International nature of Rotary.   More than 25,000 attend the Toronto Conference, and we are treated to great speakers, terrific entertainment and fine times.

Speakers cover a variety of Rotary topics as always,  highlights include Prime Minister Trudeau and former US First Lady Laura Bush (on literacy).   And, of course, our Rotary leaders are inspiring as incoming President Barry Rassin lays out his plans for the coming year, and President Ian Riseley thanks everyone for Making a Difference.    Special moments include a special recognition for outgoing Rotary International Director and Vice President Dean Rohrs

District 5040 is well represented at the Convention with 85 registered. The District 5040 dinner, organized by DGN Bala Naidoo, is well attended with over 50 from all over our District - it is great to see everyone and connect!

And, just as quickly as it starts, it is over and we fly back to Vancouver on June 29.   Next day, our stint as Governor for District 5040 comes to an end, and it is time for Darcy to take the reins.
