January 5 to 7 - Blue Denim in Seattle - One of the special training events that the Governor team participates in each year is called Blue Denim - it is a casual weekend of learning put on by the Governors of the nine Districts from Pacific Northwest PETS where we share experiences throughout the Governor journey with each other and help prepare the coming Governors for what's ahead.
This one is a little bittersweet for us as it is our fourth and final Blue Denim - and also as sitting Governor's it is our turn to organize and put on the event. We start on Friday afternoon with a wonderful tour of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (their headquarters is very close to our event location) and then get into things with the opening dinner and sessions Friday evening.
The time goes by quickly and in no time, it seems, the closing is underway on Sunday morning. This is one part of the Governor journey that we will truly miss in our future - although our class is already planning a reunion..
