Saturday, February 24 - Saturday evening, February 24 in Prince George, and the place to be was at the annual Taste of India event, a major fundraiser by the Prince George Yellowhead Rotary Club.   This was the eighth annual running of this popular event, which has raised now over $400,000 for local and international projects.   Also active in the evening were the College Heights Interact Club and the Rotaract Club of Prince George.

The Prince George Civic Centre was bustling, with over 600 in attendance.   Many were dressed in traditional Indian attire which added colour and ambiance to this themed night.   After a reception in the foyer, we moved into the main hall which was suitably decorated.   A silent auction was in progress throughout the evening.   Entertainment was soon underway, with colourful dancing and music from India.   MC Carol Gass got things going and kept us on track, and right on schedule the amazing Indian buffet dinner was enjoyed - guests had their choice of either mild or spicy lines!

After dinner, there was more entertainment, then a great live auction.   Draw winners were announced, and the auctions concluded.   Now it was time for high energy Bollywood dancing and music - with a large audience participation quotient!    A great evening it was.

Funds raised this year support renovations at the Elder Citizens Recreation Association, playground equipment at Big Brothers / Big Sisters, a bike skills park at Blackburn Community Association and ongoing international projects in Amreli, India and Mgutwa, Tanzania.
