Some recent achievements and activities in District 5040 clubs as reported by Assistant Governors for September and October 2025. There is much more planning and other activity in clubs, but these are current results, projects completed.
Burnaby
Three new members confirmed with more to come.
Burnaby Deer Lake
Delivered over 230 pairs of boots to Burnaby students through Boots for Kids. • Decorated trees for Festival of Lights fundraiser. • Presented cultural program on Taiwan. • Burnaby South and Burnaby Central Interact Clubs remain active.
Burnaby Rotaract
Attended Rotary World Help container loading for the Philippines (Nov 1).
Participated in the Annual Boot Sort for Boots for Kids (Nov 2).
Decorated Christmas trees at Lougheed Mall for Festival of Lights (Nov 14).
Welcomed new member
Dragon
Supported Burnaby Hospital Foundation Gala on Nov 8.
Held 2025 Installation Night with 130+ attendees and fundraising.
Participated in Music of Hope Christmas Concert; supported disability-focused charity.
Ladner
The club inducted a new member.
Club members and guests participated in the Lower Mainland Foundation Lunch.
Club members participate in the Remembrance Day parade and laying of a wreath.
Members decorated a Christmas Tree the club sponsored at the Cascades Casino in Ladner with proceeds supporting Deltassist.
Christmas Lights were put up outdoors at the Delta Hospital, extended care and hospice.
Arthur Drive street clean up was on November 29th. .
The club donated $2,000 to Deltassist for its Christmas Hamper Program which delivers -- also with club members help -- Christmas Food Hampers to people in need.
The Raise A Flag fundraiser resulted in $8000 for the club.
The club received the 2024/2025 Rotary International Club Excellence Award certificate.
It was also recognized at the Major Donor Level 1 for club members' donations and fundraising in the community of $21,055.
New Westminster
Inducted 2 new members; 3 more prospects engaged.
Raised over $1,900 through the Legion poppy campaign.
New Westminster Royal City
Attended Lower Mainland Foundation Lunch and contributed a silent auction item.
Initiated bylaw review and planning session with district facilitator.
Preparing Christmas hampers for Stevenson House.
Donated a Shelter Box and supported 14 Laos water sponsorship.
New Westminster Rotaract
Conducted a donation drive for a newly arrived refugee.
Joint volunteer event at Hero Park Senior Centre with UBC Rotaract
Participated in Rotary Polio Day and the Vancouver City Hall walk.
Attended UBC Rotaract’s first meeting.
Hosted first in-person meeting at New Westminster Public Library.
Prince Rupert
Held an annual auction.
Regal Rotaract
Partnering with Lumina Tech on practical technology-focused student programs.
Multiple community and international initiatives progressing (Hello Heritage MVP, Sugar Shak, NAXY/Red Cross, and projects in Nigeria, Manila, Indonesia).
New programs: Deaf School Entrepreneurship, Immigration Connections launch, member orientation, and bylaw update.
Richmond and Delta Area
The Presidents and PEs from the eight Rotary and Rotaract clubs met for a hybrid forum at the Delta Chamber of Commerce on November 5, 2025. The outcome was good discussion of challenges and opportunities and follow up action.
Richmond
Co-hosted a Halloween Rotary Promotion Event in Steveston with RC Steveston on October 31st.
Members participated in loading a Rotary World Help shipping container on November 1st.
Some members served on the organizing committee for the Lower Mainland Foundation Dinner on November 9th and which 20 members attended.
Richmond Rotaract
Hosted a Walk on the Dyke club social on November 15, 2025.
Richmond Sunrise
The club completed its annual Christmas poinsettia sales fundraiser, achieving approximately $2,500, supporting The Rotary Foundation and local Richmond service projects.
Richmond Sunset
The 25th Winter Wonderland fund raiser with 30 sponsored Christmas trees indoor and 15 outdoor plus one 20-foot tree indoors at City Hall launched on November 29th with Mayor, Council, MLAs and MPs attending -- a major effort of club members and Interactors from Hugh Boyd and Steveston Secondary Schools.
DG Jan Gisborne, on her DG Visit, inducted three new members on November 26, increasing total membership this year from 20 to 26.
Smithers
Recently completed the club’s 63rd Auction.
Steveston
Steveston and Richmond Rotary Clubs handed out $400 of candy to Halloween participants on Moncton St. on October 31.
After successful fabrication and distribution of 8 new fire trailers, training has commenced at the different recipient communities.
A ceremony at Minoru Seniors Facility included acknowledge of contributions to the Minoru Seniors Society, RC Steveston which has been helping fund and deliver meals to seniors for years.
RC Steveston members and four Interactors from both McMath Secondary and Richmond Christian School participated at the Rotary Foundation Lunch.
RC Steveston placed a wreath at the Richmond Cenotaph on Remembrance Day.
Terrace
The club held its 65th auction.
Terrace-Skeena Valley
Supporting hungry kids with their Starfish Pack program.
Tsawwassen
Club members and South Delta Secondary Interact members participated in the Raise A Flag fundraiser, which netted $14,518 for the club’s service projects.
Also marking Remembrance Day, the club, with Interact participation, installed row upon row of crosses in front of the South Delta Artists Guild laid a wreath at the cenotaph in Memorial Park in Ladner on Remembrance Day.
Members have been installing trees and characters and running power cords in Diefenbaker Park ahead for the launch of Christmas in the Park on December 7th.
Vancouver Cambie
Prepared Santa Photo events for November 29th –30th and December 6th –7th in partnership with Vancouver Arbutus and Lions Gate clubs.
Vancouver Metrotown
Completed poinsettia fundraising project.
Continued monthly book delivery at Maywood School.
Distributed coats to new immigrants in the community.
Participated in Foundation Lunch and silent auction.
