PDG Ron Neukomm (Dee)
District Governor 2004-2005

Ron was born and educated in Prince George, B.C. After high school he traveled around the world for a year and a half before returning to Prince George where he hired on at the Pacific Great Eastern Railway (BC Rail).

During Ron's 30 years on the railway he held various positions within the railway's Marketing & Sales department in Prince George and Vancouver. In 1997 a career change saw Ron working as a Sales Rep for an industrial wholesale company followed by retirement in 2000.

Dee was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta and moved to Prince George with her family in 1962. She works as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant in an elementary school. Dee was instrumental in starting Special Olympics in Prince George in 1986. She is a Special Olympics Level III rhythmic gymnastics coach and has coached at local, national and international competitions. Dee received the BC Special Olympics Provincial and Canadian Special Olympics National Female Coach of the Year Award and was inducted into the Prince George Sport Hall of Fame in 1998. Their son Curtis who has a degree in landscape architecture lives and works in Southern California. Curtis was a Rotary exchange student to Lingen Germany in 1993-1994.

Ron's hobbies include travel, gardening, fishing and the odd game of golf.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Ron has been an active volunteer in the community of Prince George. He served for eleven years as a director and president of the Child Development Centre where he holds an Honorary Life Membership. He was a Charter member and Past President of Prince George Transportation Club as well as a director and Vice President of the Prince George Chamber of Commerce. Ron serves as a director of Prince George United Way.

ROTARY

In 1986 Ron was invited to join the Nechako Rotary Club, a month later he was elected director of Community Services. He served as Club Secretary for six years and was Club President in 1996. Ron was District Secretary 1998-99 and Assistant Governor North 2001-2003. He serves on the RYLA North Committee. Both Ron and Dee are Paul Harris Fellows. Ron is happy that he has attended nine District Conferences and he has maintained 100% attendance since being inducted into Rotary. They have hosted six Rotary Exchange Students and a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar who attended the University of Northern B.C.
