Past District Governor John Anderson and Claire
 
John has been a Rotarian for over 20 years and is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen where he served as president in 2012-13. From 1990 to 2002, he was a member of the Rotary Club of West Vancouver and served as its president in 1998-99.
 
In addition to numerous club level positions, John has served on the District Board, the Youth and Foundation Committees as well as chairing the Scholarship Committee. He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, and a member of the Paul Harris Society. John is a proud graduate of all three levels of the Rotary Leadership Institute and an RLI Facilitator.
 
Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, John did his teacher training in his home state of Victoria. He then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Monash University (Australia), a Bachelor of Education and Master of Arts Degree at the University of British Columbia and a Doctorate in Education at Simon Fraser University. John is currently an educational consultant having retired after a long career in public education where he worked as a teacher, school administrator and District Superintendent. John and his wife, Claire are both teachers of the deaf and hard of hearing and have worked in Australia, England and Saskatchewan as well as throughout British Columbia. John has written numerous journal articles and educational publications and has presented at conferences across Canada and around the world.
 
John and Claire have been married for 45 years and have four adult children and four grandchildren, Katie, Emma, Curtis and Jason. They love to travel and spend family time in their log cabin on Kootenay Lake in Nelson.
