PERSONAL

Del was born in Alberta where he spent his younger years before his family moved to Vancouver. Del graduated from West Vancouver Senior Secondary School. After three yeas of UBC, he started his career with Scotia Bank in 1962. Except for a three year period in the late 60's, Del's work experience has been with Scotia Bank. The majority of his assignments, however, have been in branch management within B.C. with Yukon and Ontario. Del is a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers.

Roxanne was trained at UBC as an Elementary teacher. She enjoyed raising their children, and eventually returned to the classroom where she taught English as a Second Language at all levels for nearly 20 years.

Del and Roxanne have two adult children, Nancy and Jim. Nancy is a teacher and Jim is in Investor Relations. Both Nancy and Jim were on exchange programmes for a year.

COMMUNITY SERVICES

Outside of work, along with his involvement in Rotary, Del has been involved in many organizations, boards and clubs in the communities he and Roxanne have lived in over the past 35 years. Del is active in his Masonic Lodge where he is presently the Master and he is also a "Shriner".

ROTARY

Del joined Rotary in Whitehorse, Yukon in 1977. Over the past 22 years, he has been active in Rotary Clubs in Whitehorse, Coquitlam, Prince George, and Cambridge, Ontario and since 1997, New Westminster, where he has been active in many committees and district activities since joining the club. Del served as:

·         Club President in Whitehorse in 1980-81.

·         Club President in Prince George in 1990-91.

·         District Representative for the Prince George area in 1991-92

·         District Treasurer in District 7080 in 1994-95

·         Chair of Membership in District 5040 in 1990-00.

·         Assistant Governor Burnaby/New Westminster in 2000-01.

·         Del is a Paul Harris Fellow and a Rotary Foundation benefactor.

Del and Roxanne feel that one of the greatest benefits of Rotary has been the opportunity to host several exchange students. As a couple, Roxanne and Del enjoy travelling and they are members of the International Travel and Hosting Fellowship of Rotary.
