Rotary International and your Rotary or Rotaract Club strive to create and maintain a safe environment for all youth and vulnerable adults who participate in Rotary activities.

To the best of their ability, Rotarians, Rotaractors, spouses, partners and other adult volunteers should safeguard the children and vulnerable adults they encounter and protect them from physical, sexual and emotional abuse.  This also applies to those in a position of trust who administer such programs.

As a result, District 5040 has established as policy that anyone (Rotarian or non-Rotarian volunteer) involved with youth or vulnerable adults on behalf of Rotary is required to have a (vulnerable sector) Criminal Record Check performed by the BC Ministry of Justice.  While not required by District, all other Rotarians and volunteers are also encouraged to apply for a CRC.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK (CRC) FOR ROTARY:

  1. Click on BC Criminal Record Check Application
  2. For Access Code, enter AVW2L4AG7L, the code for District 5040 Rotary.  Press Continue.
  3. On the next screen, Press Start
  4. Complete the application.

Notes:

  • You will be given a choice between using a BC Services Card and proceeding without one.  Either route is acceptable.
  • If you proceed without a BC Services Card, we will contact you later to ask you to confirm your identity by providing a copy of government issued photo ID.
  • On the screen that asks for Job Title, “Volunteer” is sufficient.

A further note for Non-Rotarian volunteers:

You must be listed by a Rotary or Rotaract club on their database, in the “Other Users” category.

That allows us to record your CRC clearance when the Justice Ministry forwards it.  If you are unsure whether you are listed, please check with the club involved, and ask that they use the exact name that you use in your CRC application.  IF A NON-ROTARIAN ISN’T REGISTERED, YOUR CRC CLEARANCE CAN’T BE RECORDED.
