Welcome to the
2017 - 2018 Rotary Year

As you know, the Rotary year changes each July 1 and I and the 2017 - 2018 team of new club presidents are pleased to take on the leadership role for the coming year. Our theme this year is Rotary - Making a Difference - a fitting description of what we, as Rotarians, do and will continue to do into the future.

The year is already off and running and it is very exciting to start off the new Rotary year with an overall growth of membership over last year. Congratulations to those clubs who grew membership last year, and also to the very new Rotary Cub of Vancouver Mountainview which has been chartered by Rotary and adds a 49th club to our District.

As Governor of District 5040, one of the tasks that my partner Deb and I have is to visit each of our Rotary clubs. We have just started this with the visit with the Smithers Rotary club on July 5 (photo on the left with President Leigh and Smithers Rotarians at Gordon L Williams Rotary Park) and we very much look forward to meeting as many Rotarians as we can over the course of the year. We also spent two days with RYLA Lakelse on July 7 and 8, as seen in the photo below.

To close, a very big thank you to our now Immediate Past District Governor Lyn Stroshin and the whole team from last year for the hard work and amazing job they did.

Now, let's get out there and Make a Difference - in our home communities and around the world.

Regards,

Don Evans
