PDG Penny Offer has received the RI "Service Above Self" award from the Rotary International Board of Directors
 

On Friday, May 17th at the District 5040 Conference in Quesnel, PDG Penny Offer, Rotary Club of Ladner, was presented with the Rotary International “Service Above Self Award”.

As Rotary’s highest honour for individual Rotarians, this award recognizes up to 150 Rotarians annually who have demonstrated exemplary humanitarian service, with an emphasis on personal volunteer efforts and active involvement in helping others through Rotary. Only current district governors, RI directors, and past directors may nominate candidates.

The award was presented by PDG Gayle Knepper,  RI President’s Representative, DG Rebecca MacPherson and PDG Gordon Dalglish, District Awards Chair.  In presenting the award Gayle Knepper stated that Penny was selected by RI Present Sakuji Tanaka and the RI Board of Directors for her humanitarian service in the Philippines and China. Her commitment to education in developing Rotary Leadership Institute in District 5040 and serving as a training leader at the district and zone levels. Penny has also served as an Assistant Rotary Coordinator and will serve in 2013-2016 as a Rotary Public Image Coordinator for western Canada, Alaska, eastern Russia and Washington. In 2012 she chaired the Zone 24-32 Institute in Vancouver.
