Saturday, November 18th - This evening we attend the District 5040 Foundation Dinner, and what an event it turns out to be! The organizing committee from the Rotary Club of Vancouver has outdone themselves, and created an evening that turns out to be lively, diverse, fun, and profitable for The Rotary Foundation.  Thanks to the great organizing committee led by Min Kuang, John Bathurst and Franco Gallo who put this together, found great sponsors, brought many new people to Rotary, and lined up great entertainment and prizes.

The room at the Terminal City Club is packed and looks spectacular, truly a real gala atmosphere is at hand.  The proceedings are active, and include video presentations on the Foundation, a special welcome to attendees from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.  District Governor Designate, Dave Hamilton, is the MC and does a great job.

Entertainment is a diverse as the crowd - first we have Korean Dancers (from the Rotary Club of Vancouver Cambie), three wonderful young pianists performing on a Steinway Grand piano brought in and sponsored by Tom Lee Music during dinner, and later Tango Dancing with lessons.   Finally a DJ for our dancing rounded out the evening.

Many donations are made to the Rotary Foundation, business at the Paul Harris desk is brisk and ably handled by Terry Miller. AS this blog entry is being written, the proceeds are still being tallied - but we know that the goal set will surely be exceeded.
