District Seminars Successful
The final regional District Assembly and Rotary Foundation Grant Management seminar was held in Sechelt on Saturday, June 2. This was the fourth regional seminar in District 5040 under the leadership of DGE Rebecca MacPherson in preparation for the next Rotary year.
In Sechelt, 26 Rotarians representing the six Rotary clubs on the Sunshine Coast participated. Also representatives from the RC of Bowen Island attended. The district assembly focused on the theme of “Peace Through Service” for the Rotary year 2012-13, building a vibrant Rotary club and the 10 best practices of successful clubs.
The grant management seminar concentrated on finding appropriate service projects, applying for grants and managing Rotary Foundation district and global grants. The clubs with representation at a regional seminar met one of the basic requirements for certification to obtain grant funding.
With more than 100 Rotarians attending the four seminars, District 5040 is ready for another successful Rotary year both to build on past successful service projects and explore new ways to serve the community locally and internationally.
