We are known for:
  • Recognized as District 5040’s outstanding club of the year in 2010/11 and again in 2014/15.
  • Presidential Citation in 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2015
  • Supporting youth & youth at risk both locally and internationally:
    • Vocational scholarships to North Vancouver Secondary schools
    • Windsor Secondary Interact club
    • NorVan Boys & Girls Club
    • North Shore Youth Safe House
    • ‘Sound of Hope’ project in Bali, Indonesia – trades training school for hearing impaired youth
    • First Nations youth library in Wuikinuxv, Rivers Inlet, BC
    • Rotary Youth Exchange
    • Charter member of Rotary World Help Network
Our Goals for 2016-17:
  • Expand membership by net three new members
  • Raise the Rotary profile on the North Shore
  • Explore additional fundraising events
  • Sponsor one new project with a District or Global grant
  • Support the District 5040 Business Directory
  • Support the formation of a North Shore Rotaract club
  • Sponsor an additional Interact club
Events:
  • July – we have organized the Canada Day celebration at North Vancouver’s Waterfront Park for the last 26 years
  • September – Charity Book sale at North Vancouver’s Capilano Mall
  • November/December – Coordinate Operation Red Nose on the North Shore
Projects:
  • Our club members have become re-engaged with the Rotary World Help Network and have submitted a District Grant application to assist with funding a shipment of beds and mattresses to Kiev, Ukraine.
  • We have become involved with KIVA – the micro finance organization.
  • We are exploring a project in Columbia with a Rotaract contact
  • Our club has just received CRA approval to set up our own Charitable Foundation which will assist us in fund raising for our local youth projects and raise our profile in the community.
Members recognized:
  • Sue Godey – Rotarian of the Year 2011/12. Currently District Chair for Rotary Youth Exchange.
  • James Thompson –  Rotary Foundation – major benefactor
  • Elizabeth Chong – leading the club’s involvement in the ‘Sound of Hope’ project in Bali
  • Elko Kroon – Charter member
  • Shirley Robertson – for tirelessly leading the Canada Day crew and Interact Liason
  • New member Virginia Lange who has worked tirelessly to set up our first Charity Book Sale.
