On Friday, February 1, 2008, the Rotaract Club of Vancouver staged their second Professional Development Conference at UBC. The target groups were Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and students.

Organization of this endeavour involved partnering with its sponsor club the Rotary Club of Vancouver. The speakers were Rotarians Don Evans, Dr. Sandra Harper and Myron Kuzych. The presentations were directed to the theme "Leadership in Service" and included practical examples on goal and vision setting, international volunteering projects, community service from architectural point of view and team building. The contribution that Rotary makes at the community and world level was emphasized by all the speakers.

After the presentations were concluded, a lively panel discussion followed with attendee participation. Over 75 registered and the event was a resounding success. The evaluation by the participants was exceptional and the outcomes will include a follow up interactive program.

The event was chaired by Erica Tsang, a first year science student, and her committee included Ricardo Le (Rotaract President), Michael Jacobson (Rotary and advisor), Kelly Ma and Xiao Yuan (marketing), Lisa Brownlow and Brandon MacKay (sponsorship), Julie Hewitt (logistics), Chris Borchert (pamphlet design), Laura Faryna (poster design), Edwin Hui (webmaster). T shirts commemorating the Rotaract volunteer trip to Honduras were sold as a fund raiser. Those in attendance included Rotary Club of Vancouver President Tom Crean and ADG Don Kavanagh.

You wouldn't believe the total cost of the event was only $350.
